Our 1-day guided hiking tour will start from the 13th century Saghmosavank monastery, located in the Aragatsotn province of Armenia. The monastery rests on the edge of the cliff, overlooking the Kasagh gorge, with mounts Ararat, Aragats and Ara visible on three sides. The trail will take us to the medieval monastery of Hovhannavank along the edge of the canyon opening some magnificent mountainous views and vast valleys covered with colorful wildflowers in front of us. After exploring the monastery, we will then walk down into the gorge and will find ourselves on the banks of the Kasagh river. Coming down from the slopes of the Aragats mountain, the 89-kilometer long Kasagh river runs south and eventually flows into the Metsamor river. We can make a stop to take a refreshing swim in its waters, and then walking along the bank, we'll reach the village of Karbi to finish our hike.
